This course is an introduction to the principles of rural evasion. Based on the framework of Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape (SERE), this course is designed for those may find themselves in potentially dangerous parts of the globe and are attempting to make it to an area of friendly control.

  • Mindset
  • Principles of Concealment
  • Meeting Needs Under Evasion Conditions
  • Movement Techniques

Times and Locations:

Course will start at 4 PM on Friday evening and finish at 4 PM Sunday evening. Course location is given upon registration.

Registration:

To register, email john@longrangesecurity.com with the course name, location, and date range you want to register for. You will then receive an invoice to complete payment. After your paid invoice is received, you will receive a course packet. This packet will contain course information and required waivers and policy statements. Please fill out the applicable waivers and either return by email or bring to the start of class.

Course registrations are refundable only at the discretion of Long Range Security Consulting, LLC.

WHAT TO BRING

These are minimum equipment requirements. Within reason, participants are free to bring as much additional equipment as they want. If there are questions or concerns about what something is or if there is a suitable substitute, please contact me.

Training in a controlled environment provides an opportunity to try out your equipment, and to see how it performs, as well as have an opportunity to see what other options are available before making a purchase/investment.

Depending on weather conditions and approval of the primary instructor, participants may have the option to sleep in shelters they construct.

Food & Water. Participants will provide their own food and water. Recommend backpacker type meals or MREs for main courses as they only require hot water to prepare. Small backpacker stoves like will prepare these and your morning coffee very well. Granola, protein bars, jerky, fruit, etc., are great options for snacks or lunches. You will have access to your vehicle in the mornings and evenings, so a cooler is ok.

Personal firearms and ammunition will NOT be utilized in this specific course. Any personal firearms and ammunition will be secured prior to training start.

  • Long Pants & Long Sleeve Shirt (May Get Damaged)
  • Note Taking Materials (Waterproof Recommended)
  • Lighter / Fire Starter
  • Gloves (Leather Palm Recommended)
  • Billed/Brimmed Hat

  • Water Bottle (Bring Enough Water to Make it Through 3 Days)

  • Knife (Fixed Blade Recommended
  • Headlamp / Flashlight (With Extra Batteries)
  • Bedroll Setup Sufficient for Local Nighttime Temperatures (Pad & Sleeping Bag)
  • Shelter Sufficient for Local Nighttime Temperatures (Tent or Tarp Setup)
  • Needed Medications for Duration of Training

For Awareness / Additional Information

  • There is physical demand aspect to this course. Participants should be able to stand, walk, kneel, and crawl in a forest environment.
  • Participants may spend some periods of time outdoors alone. Instructors will be close by in case of emergency.
  • Age Requirements. This course is appropriate for ages 16+. All participants under the age of 18 must have a participation agreement signed by their parent or legal guardian.

Instructor Bio:

John is the founder of Long Range Security Consulting, a special operations, veteran owned and operated consulting service specializing in the human domains of situational awareness and personal survival. John is a former United States Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape (SERE) Specialist with an extensive experience managing
security, personnel, rescue, crisis response, and training requirements derived from conducting multi-component operations in dynamic, fast-paced environments across the globe.
